For the Love of Music Studio is the creation of Kathleen Nuebling. She began singing in her church and studied with the late Mary Weerts throughout high school. She finished her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (2008) at Truman State University, studying with Dr. Jacqueline Collett. After college, she joined Teach for America and relocated to Oxford, North Carolina where she taught 7th grade Language Arts for three years. While in North Carolina, she studied with Katherine Kaufman Posner, a teacher who believes strongly in the bel canto teaching tradition and who inspired Kathleen to return to music and graduate school. She finished her Master of Music (2013) at Washington University in St. Louis, where she studied with Christine Armistead. She continues under the guidance of Ms. Armistead. In addition, Kathleen has training in Alexander Technique and Dalcroze Eurythmics. Kathleen also has her Missouri teaching certificate for K-12 Music, both Vocal and Instrumental.
Kathleen has five years of classroom teaching experience and four years of private voice teaching experience. She has taught a wide range of ages, abilities, and vocal styles. She loves to perform and hopes to find more opportunities in the St. Louis area now that she is teaching full time. In the past, she has performed four fully staged operas with Truman Opera Theatre, countless opera scenes, and ensemble work with Union Avenue Opera. She is an active soloist with the Kirkwood United Methodist Church.
Kathleen lives happily with her husband, Damon, and their beautiful daughter, Bailey in Rock Hill, Missouri. They also have one rambunctious dog, Casserole, and two cats, Vesta and Elliot. The Nuebling family loves spending days at the park, enjoying the playground and walking.
